Individual Attention - Black

Sometimes, we like to bring the puppies up to the sun room to get individual attention and see what kind of personalties they have. Additionally, as we said before, it gives Ming a chance to bond with her offspring without being overwhelmed by the pack. Here we have Black, a female. She has a very sweet and quiet personality.

Sunday - We're Back!

We've been away and the puppies came with us. One of the days, the puppies took in some air and sunshine. In one instance, we found that their terrier instincts kicked in. One started it and other saw that it was fun and joined. Needless to say, the Westies liked the smell of dirt?!

The Pen Prisoner Photos

In the previous videos of the pen happenings, we had a top view.

Does it look like one is cracking up and laughing?

We have some of that but here are some at the puppies' eye level.

Licking the bars!

Biting the bars!

June 23 - Some Dislike the Pen

We decided to bring the puppies upstairs to give them a change of pace. As we have collapsed one of the pens, there is but one pen left for all nine growing puppies. Needless to say that it is can be more cramped than they're used to. Some don't mind while some just want to break out of this pen prison.

There is Always One!

There is always one that has entirely too much energy. The video below captures the rest of the puppy's siblings snoozing and enjoying the afternoon siesta but we have an awake one who was gnawing off the covering before we got the camera going. As you can tell, he (or she) wants to have everyone else be awake with them. You know what we mean, it happens in human life as well.... It's a very short clip.

June 21 - The Brood Lined Up

As you can tell by the lack of posts, we've been busy. As we have seen in the past, the puppies when they were younger and zonked out were much easier to handle.

Here they are and as you can see, it takes many hands to keep them steady and attentive to the camera. Don't ask us to name them...

Puppy Profile Wrap Up - Pink Green - Female

Ah, we're finally at the end of all nine puppies' introductions. Last, but not least, we have Pink Green. Here are some pictures and a video for you to enjoy.

And the video...

Let's Take A Look Back

As we were cleaning out memory on the cameras, we came across this adorable picture of the puppies lined up. It was a great moment - all of them were sleeping (conked out) Of course they look very different now. Look for future posts in which we attempt to line the brood up for a group shot.

Featuring Green - Male

After a slight break in the series, we are returning to our individual puppy posts to cover the last two. Here we have green, a male. He was feeling a bit hyperactive when we were taking his picture so it took us forever to get him to stay still. Enjoy!

June 12 - The Holding Pen and A Cool Tile Floor

As the puppies transition to their new home, we've erected a 'holding pen' of sorts to put them in when their main area needs servicing. In the upcoming dog days (pun intended) of summer, the combination of the basement and a tile floor allow for cooler puppies with less complaint.

WOW - Never thought you see all of the nine puppies at once, did you?

June 10 - All Is Well

Here's a nice video of the pups, ENJOY! THANK YOU TO ERIK PALMER AND THE RESTON BIBLE CHURCH PRAISE AND WORSHIP BAND.

June 9 - The Third Home in Their Lives

With summer nearing and the two pens getting a bit small, we decided to make a new living area. Honestly, it appeared that they were bored. So off to the basement they go. Not only is it cooler, we can reclaim the sun room again. The new area allows them to spread out and hopefully, still give them a sleep area and an 'outdoor' area to do their 'business.' Excuse the mess, the puppies did all that to the newspaper.

As you can see - they are packed together.

Ah! Sibling bonding how wonderful it is.

June 8 - Looking at Costco Boxes Differently - A Video

As we look at using the boxes differently, Zac H. flipped them and cut holes in them to give some light and perhaps a non-claustrophobic feeling when they're playing in those cramped quarters. We find the puppies figuring out new ways to play. See for yourself.

June 7 - Free Costco Toys or A New Distraction

As many are well aware, Costco is a membership warehouse store.  When you purchase your goods, instead of bagging your purchases with bags, they recycle boxes. Smart in that Costco saves on hauling away a bunch of cardboard and leave it up to the buyers to dispose of.  Anyway, we made a Costco run and got a bunch of 1/4 boxes (sort of).  This gives new found excitement  for the puppies.  Honestly, I think they are bored cooped up in the pen.  So we put some of these boxes in there and they are for now briefly entertained.

As you can see they have taken to this particular box.  In fact while some puppies like to relax in this milk box, others like to sit on it - king or queen of the hill if you will.  Further, when they are up there, they're territorial and try to dissuade their siblings from joining them.

June 6 (2) - D-Day: All Quiet, All Sleeping

OK so we've been trying to take shots when the puppies are awake but it's pretty tough as they are wiggly, active and sometime uncooperative.  Tonight's theme is sleeping because these are the only still shots that we can manage.  Hopefully, they will be more cooperative tomorrow. Please note the various sleeping styles each puppy has.

Here are some stomach sleepers.

Here are some side sleepers and of course a back sleeper.  Note the last side sleeper is sleeping with their eyes a bit open.

June 6 (1) - Genteel? You Decide - A Video

More and more the puppies are interacting with each other and of course playing.  In the early days, there was less noise.  Watch as they rough-house.

June 5 - A Mother - Pup Bonding Video

Occasionally we place several puppies with Ming to bond with.  When she is with them all, they swarm her (literally) hoping to be fed. Well that doesn't work too well so we try to match some time with each puppy for learning and bonding.

June 4 - Are You Looking at Me?

It's so funny that the puppies are getting used to the camera or maybe they're getting used to us.  Here are some intense stares looking at you.

June 3 - Happiness is a Warm Sibling

Apologies to Charles Schulz but in our case, it's not Happiness is a Warm Puppy (though it sometimes is). We lucked out with some moments where we spied the pen when the puppies were in their down time. In the first set, we have a puppy that likes to sleep with their arm around their sibling.

In the second set, we have a back sleeper and an opportunist who likes to rest their chin high.
